Applications

UNILEASE frees badly corroded nuts and bolts, switches and mechanisms and is compatible with most metals, plastics and elastomers. Simple application, UNILEASE penetrates into the threads, even when countersunk.

Penetration

The unique blend of UNILEASE provides excellent penetration and lubrication. This is illustrated by nut and bolt assemblies fastened to a set torque and subjected to a corrosive atmosphere compared with a test (stored under ambient conditions). The torque required to release the test assembly is 1 Nm more than the original torque. The corroded assembly requires an extra 29 Nm of torque. However for a corroded assembly treated with UNILEASE, only 3 Nm of extra torque is required to release the assembly, compared to the 9 Nm of a leading brand.
In a similar test, nut and bolt assemblies fastened to a set torque are exposed to high temperatures instead of a corrosive atmosphere. Test assemblies heated to 550°C without treatment require 55 Nm of additional force to release them. However assemblies treated with UNILEASE require less than half the additional force, only 25 Nm

The pattern is repeated when the assemblies are heated to 850°C. The test assemblies require an extra 27 Nm of force, opposed to the treated assemblies that required no additional force to release them. The force to release the assemblies heated at 850°C is significantly less than the assemblies heated to 550°C owing to the metal undergoing a phase change at elevated temperatures.

Temperature Stability

After initial evaporation of carrier solvents, UNILEASE is slow to evaporate at room temperature to allow penetration. From 50 – 100°C UNILEASE continues to rapidly evaporate to leave a protective residue that protects against corrosion which remains unchanged in excess of 350°C.
